Since the 2020, Surprenant, Beneski & Nunes, P.C. has been happily supporting local food spots by spotlighting a new one each month. A local business, specializing in estate planning and elder law, they’re happy to sponsor our coverage of Warren’s Harborview.
If you have a big party, no problem.
Warren’s Harborview physical space is a rarity in these parts. Its newly constructed building is beautifully designed with soaring timber frame ceilings. Standing atop the shores of the Wareham River, there are fantastic views through floor-to-ceiling windows of the Narrows Bridge and the natural beauty along the shoreline. It can accommodate hundreds of diners in the open floor design, and a bar tucked into its northwest corner is a gathering place for those grabbing a drink before or after dinner.
Built upon the old Greer Lumber Property next to Besse Park, the restaurant has been in the works for more than two years from when owner Danny Warren envisioned this space. Retired selectman Alan Slavin showed Warren the property and helped broker the real estate deal (they fittingly held Slavin’s retirement party here). The restaurant opened late last year for events only, hosting a bunch of holiday and other parties before opening to the public in early January. Starting May 1, the deck will open and can accommodate up to 100 more diners on the deck. Warren, who also owns 24 slips on the new piers out front, will also offer service to boats.
With nightly specials, a robust variety of grill offerings, and their acclaimed fish and chips, there is something for everyone. Warren said the crunchy batter on the fish goes back many years, to when he was an apprentice under the famed chef of Holland America Cruise Lines.
A heads up for the gluten-intolerant: an entire page of the menu is for you!
Another rarity: a Sunday brunch, a buffet with cooked-to-order omelets, a roast prime rib carving station, and the pièce de resistance: the elaborate ice sculpture that holds the chilled shrimp. The ice sculptures are made by one of the chefs, Chip Koser, who has won awards and traveled to compete in competitions in his craft. The kitchen staff also features Victor Vieira, who spent a number of years at Plymouth’s Tavern on the Wharf, as well as Ellie’s Place and the New Bedford Country Club, and a young Angye Ruiz.
Even though the place is plenty big, you probably want to call ahead to save a space in case it is going to be a busy night or hoppin’ brunch.
